Do you want to get on a path towards a straighter smile? Invisalign is a great option that has many benefits over traditional teeth straightening options. Now that the year is coming to a close, you may want to consider starting the treatment. Continue reading to learn why you should start now and what you can expect to be covered by insurance.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign Clear Aligners?

If you have dental insurance, part of your Invisalign treatment will be most likely be covered. Most of the time, dental insurance plans cover clear aligners similarly to how they cover traditional metal braces. If this is the case for your dental benefits, your policy will probably cover either a set percentage of the costs, or it will pay up to a specified dollar amount. Many dental insurance plans have an allowance set aside for orthodontic treatments, but they still have a cumulative cap on the amount that they will agree to pay for this type of treatment. After you reach this cap amount, your treatment will no longer be covered by your dental insurance plan.

Why Should You Start Invisalign by the End of the Year?

If you need a larger dental procedure or treatment, like orthodontic work, and it will involve multiple appointments at the dental office, the end of the year is a great time to get started. This is especially the case if you have already met your annual deductible set for the year. This is that dollar amount that you need to pay each year before your insurance benefits begins covering costs of your treatments. When you have reached this amount, your out-of-pocket costs could decrease dramatically. In the end, it is a more affordable time to begin a large treatment.

Most dental insurance plans renew at the end of the calendar year. This means that any unused benefits for the year will expire and won’t carry over the following year. You will be responsible for paying your annual deductible again as well. Ultimately, you are more likely to save money if you start your treatment now rather than waiting till next year.

If you want a straighter smile, there is no better time to begin your treatment. This way, you will be able to show off your straight teeth in no time!
