If you want to know how to do that, here are some of the most common myths about metal braces and why they aren\u2019t what they seem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Braces Make It Impossible to Play an Instrument<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the first things that musicians worry about when it comes to straightening their teeth is how their braces will affect their ability to play. This is especially true when it comes to brass musicians, though woodwind players sometimes have concerns as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thankfully, playing an instrument with braces is far from impossible\u2014people do it all the time! It may take some getting used to, but with a little bit of practice, you shouldn\u2019t have any problem sounding as good as you usually do while wearing your braces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braces Straighten Teeth Forever<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s true that the results from braces can last a lifetime, but not without going the extra mile to wear your retainer afterward. Your teeth are in a mobile state after wearing braces for a year or so, meaning that they\u2019ll continue moving after those braces come off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should take care to wear your retainer as directed by your orthodontist, and not to give up on it until they tell you to. Otherwise, all the work you\u2019ve done to straighten your smile may be undone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braces Are Uncomfortable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s true that the first few weeks of wearing braces can be a little bit uncomfortable. Your teeth aren\u2019t used to moving around, and the wires and brackets still feel new to your lips and gums. Over time, however, you should get used to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the first month, you won\u2019t even notice your metal braces anymore, so any concerns about long-term discomfort aren\u2019t worth worrying about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
